The basics of the gum grafts procedure is getting coverage over sensitive areas of recession.  It can be done by transplanting the patient's own tissue from another spot in the mouth, or with a synthetic material that gets a very similar result.  Which to use depends on the patient, but both work well.  Reasons gum recession occurs are from tooth grinding, poor orthodontic position of the tooth, or aggressive brushing habits.  It would be good to do a link to the Night Guards for the tooth grinding, and Invisalign for the poor orthodontic alignment.  I like to treat the cause as well as fix the problem that resulted.
