Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Kristoff is highly skilled with all phases of pediatric dentistry, including cleanings, fillings, crowns and more. We have techniques specifically designed for children, which establish trust and help your child receive dental treatment. Nitrous oxide sedation is also a useful and an extremely safe distraction for our young patients.
Dr. Kristoff and his staff will regularly evaluate your child’s dental needs to provide the highest level of prevention and treatment. As your child grows, we will monitor your child’s teeth for early treatment of bite or tooth alignment problems. As they get older, we offer Invisalign Teen for our patients who are responsible enough to use dental aligners. We are committed to providing your child with a friendly, anxiety-free environment. They get to sit back, put on headphones, and watch their favorite shows so they can tune out the pediatric dentistry procedures.
Pediatric Sedation
We want your child to have the best experience possible. Some children may get unnecessarily worked up over a visit. Fears may be transferred to them from parents, a rambunctious sibling, or even their pediatrician’s office. From the start, we like to build good experiences that start at their first exam. We speak in terms they understand while “counting teeth” and doing a show and tell. Some children can also do very well with that approach when treatment is needed. However, based on the temperament of your child and the type of procedure, the doctor may use sedation to keep the visit a positive one.
We typically have them breath “happy gas” (nitrous oxide and oxygen) and watch a children’s movie during the procedure to help them relax. Most children do very well with this extremely safe technique where we monitor their vitals for the entire visit. While we work, we allow parents to enjoy the comfortable reception area. Parents can take advantage of the free Wifi while having a cup of coffee, until treatment is completed. We even offer a separate kids area where siblings can try the XBox Kinect, watch their own shows, or play in the toy room.
We focus on a smooth visit, which helps to avoid traumatic dental experiences that may adversely affect a patient for years. As an added benefit, when our young patients are sedated we have the ability to deliver faster and higher quality care. Successful nitrous oxide sedation is significantly less costly than hospital or surgical center based sedation. Which is why we recommend nitrous oxide as a first choice in treatment options.
